Writer's Meme

A/N: I still haven't gotten around to writing any DBSK-related stories in the past month and am physically exhausted due to worries about my health lately. The past week I have been to the hospital because of this reoccurring pain in my chest and upper abdomen that has been going on since the beginning of this year. I'm getting the results of my second blood test and ultrasound tomorrow and am really freaked out and scared. I don't like blood tests at all (mainly needles) and I had to take two in the past week. After the first result, they said that there was something wrong with my liver, confirming the fact that the pain I had been experiencing, was acid reflux. So now I'm trying to eat really healthy. I mean REALLY HEALTHY. That means NO fried foods (chips included), NO spicy foods, NO sour foods (all tomato based foods included), NO fatty meats (lean only), and NO sweets/dairy. It's frustrating that I can't eat more than half of the things I used to, but the plus side is that I have lost about 6 lbs in the past five days. =) I hope it's not too horrible and that I can cure it by eating healthy and not needing surgery or what not. I have a nagging feeling that it's karma from my early days of when I used to overdose on Tylenol to escape from reality. Crossing my fingers that my liver isn't too damaged.

First, what is your real name?
- I really don't want to say because I don't like my real name.
What name do you write under?
- I have three different names. Miss Itachi Uchiha for (Fanfiction.Net), Miri_Ryu for (Lunaescence Archives), and Miri_Uchiha for (Livejournal.Com). The first two websites are a look into my rookie fanfiction writing days. It's pretty embarrassing because I could see so many spelling errors that I didn't bother correcting because I didn't care and short, abrupt sentence structures that could easily be elaborated on. Overall, I'm disappointed in my past self.
Why did you choose that name?
- The first name that I chose, "Miss Itachi Uchiha" was because I was obsessed with the character from Naruto named Itachi Uchiha that I wanted to be married to him. However, the name "Mrs. Itachi Uchiha" was already taken at the time, so I made do with 'Miss' instead. It reminded me of those days back in middle school where girls would go around and add the last name of their crush to their first names.
The second name that I chose, "Miri_Ryu" was because they were a combination of two people that I really liked from the anime, s-CRY-eD and the name "Miri" was what I thought of as a nickname for the female character that I liked and soon began to use that as my online nickname. I had the nickname, "Anna" but it didn't resonate with me, so I changed my nickname to Miri since then.
The last name that I chose, "Miri_Uchiha" is a combination of both the first two names that I used above. My favorite female character from s-CRY-eD and my favorite male character from Naruto meshed together produces this result and I think this will be the only name that I'll write under in the future.
What was your first thought upon discovering that fanfiction existed?
- It felt a little strange, because at the time, I thought reading any type of story, had to be in books or in any type of book format. But it was intriguing as I liked reading and reading more about the characters was a good thing.
When and why did you start writing fanfiction?
- I'm not sure when I started writing fanfiction. I think it was half a year before I started uploading them onto the internet for people to read, which was around 2006. As for the reasons why I started writing them, I had already written notebooks upon notebooks of my own stories that starred myself and my group of friends. I still have them to this day and am VERY embarrassed by them. I can be so self-absorbed back then, thinking that everything revolved around me. Basically, my notebook stories were kind of like a reverse harem in a way, where all the boys focused or fought over one girl, which in my case ... was me. Thinking about it now ... I'm disgusted by myself. HA. I've stopped writing them since. I guess that's what happens when you crush on so many unavailable people, that you tend to imagine what it would be like if they liked you back.
Did you tell anyone outside the internet that you were about to start? If so, who and what was their reaction?
- At first, no. It wasn't until I got a little bit better at writing a few years later, around 2008-2010, that I started telling people that I wrote fiction/fanfiction as a hobby.
What fandoms do you write for?
- I wrote a ton of anime fanfictions when I first started out. Just a few years ago, I wrote for the DBSK fandom and now, I'm trying to get back into writing anime fanfictions again.
Describe your writing area in detail.
- I don't have a specific area where I write. As long as I have a table to write on, it's fine. The noise around me won't be bothering me, because I'll be listening to my ipod.
What do you love about writing fanfiction?
- As I've said before in a previous meme, I like seeing my ideas/visions that started in my head, being put down into words and having people read it and like it.
What sort of stories reach you the most and inspire you to write?
- The type of stories that tend to reach out to me, are stories that show some internal emotional struggle. Whether they overcome that emotional struggle or are consumed by it, doesn't matter because they both leave me with a feeling of melancholy, a feeling that I really like and am satisfied by. As for what stories that inspires me to write ... I don't have any. But there are some authors that I look up to and hope to write like them someday.
Have you ever read a fanfic that made you truly laugh out loud?
- I have in the past, but I don't look for those types of stories to read nowadays.
Have you ever read a fanfic that made you blush?
- When I first started readinglemon stories (Sorry, is that term old?) ... I mean smut ... I would blush and look over my shoulder or hide the page whenever people would be near me. I still hide or get paranoid to this day, but I don't blush over sex scenes anymore. It's probably because I've been desensitized by them.
Link me to what you feel is your best story that you have written and are the most proud of?
- Temporary Pain and Shackled Freedom are two stories so far that I'm emotionally proud of, because they were the most emotionally draining stories I have ever written. I am currently writing the third most emotionally draining one-shot, but have yet to finish the ending to it.
How long have you been a fan of the fandom you're currently writing in?
- Not long at all. Actually, it's been a month since I've been in the Magi fandom. Usually when I write fanfics for the first time, I liked to immerse myself by watching the anime or videos pertaining to the fandom in particular before writing and uploading the fanfic for the public to read . However, the Magi fandom is the first fandom in which I read the fanfics from other writers first before watching the anime. I came upon the fandom by randomly seeing a picture of Judal and was immediately drawn to his features. I still liked him even when I found out that he was one of the antagonists in the anime. Based on just reading the fanfics alone, I started writing my own stories with Judal being the main character. After the first drabble I wrote with just the personality I got from reading Magi fanfics, I began watching the anime. From the anime, I learned a little bit more about his personality and continued writing Magi drabbles to this day, despite not finishing the anime (and won't be planning to in the future).
Are there any fandoms you would like to write in, but just haven't?
- Twilight and Harry Potter. Both fandoms I have written just ONE drabble/oneshot before stopping. It didn't feel right to write for these two fandoms when I haven't even finished their book series or watched the movies for them. I only felt compelled to write for the fandom because I really liked how the writers in the fandom wrote my favorite pairings and I wanted to try it out. When I wrote my first and only ficlet for the Harry Potter fandom, it felt like tedious work. I had a spell in particular that I wanted to use in my story, but when I looked through the available spells of the Harry Potter world, there wasn't a spell that fit what I needed, so that meant I had to make up a spell out of the spells that was already created and then I had to look up a latin word for that specific spell. Just one short story and a lot of research. *Sigh* I applaud JK Rowling for being able to create all of the spells known in the wizarding world and have the patience for it, because I was mentally exhausted after creating that one spell.
Do you use a beta reader?
- In the past, not anymore though.
What's the latest you have ever stayed up writing fanfiction?
- About 10 or 11pm.
Tell the readers something interesting about yourself that no one could ever imagine?
- The sound of motorcycles at night, especially this type of noise would make my heart rate speed up in fear and leave me shaking. The strange thing about it is that I've never had something happen to me pertaining to motorcycles that would cause me to fear the noise in the first place.
