"Come back to bed . . ." Yoochun heard his boyfriend groan. He sent an exhausted look at the lump under the blanket,

"Can't. Our floor officer is going to be here any minute . . ."

At that exact moment, there were knocks on the door. Yoochun smirked,

"See?"

Yunho replied with a tired groan and rolled away, immediately falling back to sleep. Yoochun smiled and opened the door to greet their floor officer. What happened yesterday, was still fresh in his mind. He could never forgive anyone who would try to hurt another person just because they could.

"Hyung . . ."

The man pushed the door wider and spotted Yunho's sleeping body. Yoochun gave the man a fake smile,

"Is there a meeting today?"

"Yes," the man turned his gaze on him. Yoochun wanted to wither away in fear, but he stood strong,

"I'll make sure Yunho will be there."

"Good. I expect nothing less from him. And also, tell him to meet me in my office at noon sharp. If he arrives even a second later, I'm not going to accept him."

Before Yoochun could question the man for wanting to see Yunho, the man left and he suddenly remembered what the man had said yesterday.

"Thank you for your participation, Jung Yunho. You will be rewarded accordingly."

"Changmin . . ." Yoochun whispered, remembering the younger boy. Writing a quick note to his boyfriend, he ran out of the room to a floor above him where Changmin's dorm room was located. He headed over to the room and knocked on the door.

Please be okay. Please be okay.

The door swung open and a boy stood there, "Yes? Can I help you?"

Yoochun steadied his breathing and spoke, "Ch-Changmin . . . Is he here?"

"He just went down for breakfast," the boy answered. Yoochun gave a quick thanks and headed down to the dining hall. Once he arrived, he began scanning the vast room for a particular tall boy that would be busy scarfing down a plateful of food. But no one was eating out of the ordinary. They were all taking little, slow bites and not a soul was talking. Everyone was just like everyone else. Boring.

For a moment Yoochun believed that the boy wasn't there until he spotted the boy blending in with their plain environment.

"Changmin-ah . . ."

Yoochun watched the boy for a moment. He could see that Changmin's movements had slowed tremendously and it terrified him. Changmin's movements looked like the rest of the government's mindless robots.

"Changmin-ah . . ."

Yoochun took a few hesitant steps towards the young boy who was standing in the food line.

"Changmin-ah . . ." Yoochun tried again and reached out to tap the boy's shoulder. Changmin turned around slowly to look at him. His gaze, Yoochun noted, was blank. It was as if Changmin was staring straight into his soul. Yoochun supressed a shiver and forced a friendly smile on his face,

"Changmin-ah . . ."

"Oh . . . it's you . . ." the words sounded dead.

"What happened?" Yoochun whispered, in case one of the floor officers were around patrolling,

"Tell me. What did they do to you down there?"

Changmin was quiet and turned away from him, looking around for an empty table to sit down and eat his breakfast. Yoochun followed the young boy and watched as Changmin sat down with his small portion of a meal and began eating at a slow pace as if he had all the time in the world.

"Changmin-ah . . . Why are you being like this? You're scaring me."

The boy continued to eat as if he didn't hear. Just when Yoochun moved to try again, he spotted his boyfriend coming right up behind the younger boy and crushing him in a hug.

"Dongsaeng!"

Yoochun tried to signal with his eyes to Yunho about the situation, but the older boy was too focused on the young boy in front of him.

"Changmin-ah . . . Have you decided to not shy away from my advances?" Yunho chuckled. Instead of replying, Changmin continued to eat silently. Yunho drew back from the lack of response,

"Dongsaeng . . . Why aren't you ---"

"Stop it, Yunho," Yoochun finally spoke up, stopping the other boy from making a fool of himself. He couldn't watch this anymore.

"What?"

"He's . . . He's become one of them now," Yoochun whispered. Yunho looked at him confused and walked around to get a better look at the boy's face. His eyes darkened,

"Damn it."

"They should be done now," Jaejoong moaned when plush lips latched onto his neck. Junsu grunted in reply and moved one of his hands down the other's chest, past his stomach and beneath the sheets. Jaejoong let out a strangled whine,

"Su . . ."

"I know where you want to go," Junsu said, placing a kiss upon bruised lips,

"But I need you to focus on me now. Later. I'll let you see him later. Do it for me, okay?"

Jaejoong shifted slightly onto Junsu's lap, and looked at the latter with troubled eyes. He wanted to see Changmin as soon as possible, but a part of him wanted to give in to his boyfriend's addicting, sensual touches. Jaejoong closed his eyes and let out a shuddering breath when he felt fingers ghosting lightly down his back and over the raised scars,

"Junsu-ah . . ."

Junsu smiled into Jaejoong's neck when he heard the surrender in the older boy's voice,

"Thank you, Jae. Thank you."

"He wasn't supposed to end up like this. Why did Jaejoong have to get branded with scars on his back and Changmin with his soul broken? Just what did Changmin do wrong for them to go that far as to strip him of his identity, the snarky attitude that made him uniquely . . . Changmin?"

"Wait . . ." Yunho lifted his eyes over to his boyfriend, "Scars?"

Yoochun looked down at his lap in shame. Yunho gripped his boyfriend's shoulders,

"Is . . . Is this what made you sad for the past day? Is this what you desperately wanted to keep from me?"

Yoochun pulled away from Yunho, "I didn't say anything."

"Yoochun! You have to tell me! Lashings don't give people scars! You know something, don't you?"

"I don't!"

"You do! Tell me! I can't help you if you don't tell me what's going on."

"I found out about it when you were out during breeding week. Jaejoong and Junsu had stopped getting lashings since two breeding weeks ago," Yoochun whispered.

"Junsu too?"

Yoochun nodded, "I think the punishment gets severe the more you keep breaking the same rules over and over again."

"You mean by skipping breeding week?" Yunho wondered and Yoochun nodded again,

"Changmin also got his black eye during that night as well . . ."

"What?" Yunho narrowed his eyes. Yoochun always knew that the older boy was protective of Changmin from the very first day since the young boy was brought to them when he was just 4-years old.

"They hit him when he asked about Jihyo . . ."

Yunho smashed his fist into the wall behind Yoochun, thankful that they took their talk outside and away from curious ears. Yoochun jumped slightly in shock.

"I told him to stop asking about her. But it looked like he didn't listen to me."

"Have this happened before?" Yoochun whispered. Yunho shook his head,

"It's the first time it has happened to someone I know."

"Do you think he'll come back to what he was before?"

Yunho leaned in and laid his head on Yoochun's shoulder.

"Yunho?" Yoochun felt wet droplets on his shoulder. His boyfriend was crying. He wound his arms around the older boy and tried to soothe him with light pats on the back. It was the first time he had ever heard Yunho crying, and it only made him care for the older boy that much more.

"I'm going now . . ." Jaejoong turned back to Junsu who just waved him away. It wasn't as if he loved Junsu any less. It was just . . . Changmin had a special place in his heart that Junsu also knew about. He wondered how the other boy managed to stay by his side when he had confessed the truth.

"I love you, Su . . . But, Changmin is all I have."

"Just go, Jae," Junsu sounded tired and Jaejoong couldn't blame him.

"Okay," Jaejoong bit his lip and opened the door. A lone tear slipped down his cheeks as he closed the door behind him. He quickly wiped away the wetness on his cheek and headed to the floor below him to find Changmin. When he arrived on the designated floor, he spotted the young boy walking towards his room from the opposite end of the hallway. With one look at Changmin's submissive gaze, Jaejoong's eyes lit up. He jogged the rest of the way over to the boy and pulled him into a tight hug,

"Little Minnie . . ."

"Hyung?"

Jaejoong buried his face into the taller boy's neck and breathed in the faint scent of soap,

"Just stay like this forever, dongsaeng. Just stay like this and don't ever think about anything else. You'll do that for me, right?"

"Hyung . . ." Changmin whispered. Jaejoong held the boy tighter,

"Shh . . . Shh . . . Don't speak."

-x-

" . . . And that is all."

Everyone in the auditorium stood up and walked out of the building. Yoochun felt his boyfriend leave his side to follow their floor officer out. He moved to follow, but a hand pulled him back. He looked back to find his best friend standing there.

"Jae . . ."

Then he spotted Changmin standing idly by his best friend. He flitted his gaze back to the older boy,

"Jae?"

"Come on, let's go somewhere to talk," Jaejoong led them out of the building and over to the dining hall. Yoochun watched the older boy coo into Changmin's ear as they stepped into the hall and Changmin went off to get food.

"I didn't know the government could be so scary," Yoochun commented when Changmin was out of earshot and sat down at an empty table. Jaejoong wasn't paying attention to him, but over at the young boy standing in the food line. Yoochun observed a while more until Jaejoong spoke up softly,

"Either you become what the government wants you to be by yourself or let the government do it for you. Little Minnie was just unlucky."

Yoochun didn't know why Jaejoong seemed calm about the whole situation. He knew that Jaejoong cared for Changmin as well, even more than Yunho. But seeing the older boy talk as if nothing horrible had happened, made him feel like there was something else that Jaejoong was hiding.

The older boy smiled with affection when Changmin returned to the table and began eating. Yoochun noticed the way Jaejoong was treating the younger boy. It was different to how he would remember. Changmin would always complain whenever Jaejoong or even Yunho would sneak a chance to touch him or would complain about how mean Jaejoong was. Now, it seemed like the complete opposite. Jaejoong seemed to be caring for the boy as if he was someone precious to him.

"He's so docile, like an animal after getting a bath or after getting a treat from being such a good boy," Jaejoong whispered lovingly and running his fingers through the boy's hair.

"But I don't like it. It only reminds me that he's now one of them," Yoochun muttered bitterly.

"That's not true. Little Minnie is still his own person. He's just repressed. I rather like him this way."

"Repressed?" Yoochun scoffed, "Do you think being repressed is a good thing?"

"It's safe, Yoochun-ah. Don't argue about this with me," the older boy hissed, fingers stopped in mid-stroke.

"Safe? What does that even mean?" Yoochun said and spotted Changmin sitting still and staring at them. Jaejoong seemed to notice it as well and turned to the boy,

"Sorry, little Minnie. Did we scare you?"

"And I've been meaning to ask, but why are you treating Changmin like a little baby? He's grown up now --"

"He is a baby! He's not ready to live life yet," Jaejoong glared and covered Changmin's ears with his hands.

"What are you talking about? He's 17-years old, or have you forgotten that?"

"I have not. It's better for him to take baby steps after what he had to go through. If we expose him to too much of what life really has to offer, he might just end up insane. We want little Minnie to go back to the way he was, right? Then, let me do things my way and I'll guarantee that he'll be back. Now, if you'll excuse us, I'm taking him back to his room."

Yoochun stared as Jaejoong led the younger boy by the arm out of the dining hall as if Changmin was a 5-year old.

Jaejoong . . . Why did you look at Changmin with such a sad expression? Did something happen that I don't know about?

-x-

"Come in, come in," the man unlocked the door and Yunho stepped into the office and sat down on one of the couches inside.

"I hope Park Yoochun had relayed my message to you," the man walked over to his desk and pulled out a piece of paper from a drawer, then walked around the large oak table to sit on the couch diagonal from Yunho.

"Yes, but even without his reminder, I still remembered."

The man nodded, "Good. Good. Well, since you helped us attain the boy, I'm going to offer you a place in our army."

Yunho furrowed his brow, "But I'm not 23-years old yet . . ."

"You're skipping the original training intended for the public. I've talked with the other officers and the higher ups, and we've all agreed that you'll receive private training and will take the last position of Sergeant Major."

"Wait, but why am I in one of the high ranks? I don't have any experience . . . " Yunho was completely mindblown. He had expected some tiny reward, not some life-changing ordeal.

"It's because of your help," the man stated.

"Just because I helped you, you're willing to give me a position in your army?" Yunho asked. The man nodded. Yunho frowned. He knew that he needed time to think about it, but if he asked for more time, he knew that they would give the position to someone more suited and experienced.

"I'll take it."
