Easy As One-Two-Three

Title: Easy As One-Two-Three
Pairing: Changmin/Jaejoong
Genre: General
Rating: PG
Idea: Based on this video of Changmin getting ready for his enlistment.
Summary: It was time for Changmin's enlistment into the military as a Conscripted officer. However, there was one more thing he had to do before leaving his civilian life behind.

A/N: I apologize for what I had posted yesterday. It was too much emotion for me to contain and I needed to vent. It was not for my readers to feel pity for me or for the attention. Just because I am posting this new oneshot today, doesn't mean that the feeling I had yesterday is gone. It's still here, but under control. I'm sorry that I can't get over my self-harm and it's making you readers annoyed at me. Please accept that self-harm is a part of me.

It was November 18, 2015. Changmin stared down at the date on his phone and then let his eyes flicker over to the time and inwardly counting down the seconds until his enlistment tomorrow. He exhaled a loud sigh before absentmindedly reaching into his bowl of salted peanuts and popping a few of them into his mouth. He chewed slowly on the peanuts before reaching for his tall glass of beer and taking a swig from it. The chatter that went all around him, soon dulled to a soft noise as his mind slipped back into his thoughts of what life would be like for the next year and nine months.

"Hey," a voice said and Changmin jerked up in surprise as a hand clapped him on the shoulder. He rolled his eyes and let out an annoyed sigh when he saw who it was. Jaejoong took the empty seat next to him and ordered a beer as well,

"So, how are you doing? Are you nervous for tomorrow?"

"Don't surprise me like that and why would I be nervous? Working for the military is an honor. I just have to do a good job there and the time will fly by," Changmin said and placed his phone down. Jaejoong chuckled,

"Time only flies by if you're having fun and I doubt being a Conscripted police officer will be fun."

Changmin shrugged, "It could be."

Jaejoong thanked the bartender for his drink and he took a swig before reaching over to play with the other's hair,

"So when are you going to cut your hair off? Tomorrow's the day, right? Shouldn't you have done it already?"

Changmin moved his head away from the roaming hand, "I have it under control. I already made an appointment with the salon."

Jaejoong made a face,"You're going to a salon to have your head shaved? Isn't it cheaper to shave it yourself? At least that way, you'll know just how much hair you want to keep."

"But I've never ... "

"Then I'll teach you. We can come back to my apartment, now go cancel your appointment with the salon. There's no need to waste your money on that," Jaejoong said and chugged the rest of his beer. Changmin frowned and picked up his phone and dialed the salon, telling the person on the other line that he wanted to cancel the appointment. The call was nerve-wracking, and having to hear the other person agree politely with his cancellation and apology when he knew that inside they were angry and frustrated with him, made him wonder if after he hung up, they would badmouth about him.

"Okay, finish your beer and let's go," Jaejoong left some money on the table and stood up from his seat. Changmin quickly downed his beer before paying for his own bill as well and followed after the older man.

"Did you drive here?" Jaejoong asked and walked over to where his car was parked.

"No, I took the bus," Changmin answered. Jaejoong gave him a look,

"What happened to your car? Did your manager not let you drive to work?" Jaejoong wondered, getting into the driver's seat. Changmin opened the door to the passenger's side and got in,

"No, I didn't feel like driving. If my manager was paid to drive me to work, then I'm going to let him do his job."

Jaejoong chuckled and shook his head, "Typical. I guess that prince complex of yours hasn't worn off after so many years."

"Like your complex is any better," Changmin remarked back, remembering a time when the other man was always posting pictures on Twitter and complaining that he wasn't happy with how he looked even though he was the visual of the group and that he didn't have any special talents that made him better than all the other new idols. If only the older man knew just how unique he was with all his flaws.

After a few minutes of silence, Jaejoong turned into his apartment's underground parking garage and searched for a parking space. When he got one spot near the entrance to the building, he turned off the engine,

"Did you have dinner? Should I make something?"

Changmin thought about it for a minute before shaking his head, "I'll just cut my hair and eat dinner at home."

"Okay. Come on."

"... So this ... " Jaejoong said and turned his hair clipper on. The loud buzzing sound shocked the other man and Jaejoong had to suppress his laugh but Changmin caught the twitching of his mouth,

"It's not funny."

"Right, sorry. The attachment combs here will provide some sort of guard. That way, you don't accidentally cut your head, unless you get too close to your ear, then it'll probably cut your ear off," Jaejoong warned.

Changmin stared at the other man in horror of the possibility that his ear would get cut off right before he was leaving for his military duties. He pushed the hair clipper back into the other man's hands,

"Here, then you do it. I don't want to get blood on me."

Jaejoong rolled his eyes, "Come on, Changmin. You have to learn to cut your hair. Besides, I'm right here. I'll make sure that you're shaving your hair correctly and I won't let your ears get cut off."

Changmin stared at the other man for a second before taking the hair clipper back into his hands and made a swiping motion from the front of his head to the back of his head,

"So I do it like this?"

"Yup, and it's better to shave it as short as you can. You can leave half an inch, but not more than that or they'll do it for you over there," Jaejoong said and placed the plastic cape around the other man's neck and sat him down on the stool placed in the bathroom.

Changmin looked into the mirror to savor his last moments with his perfectly styled hair before swiping the hair clipper through the right side of his head and over his ears. He felt the strands of his hair fall onto his neck and shoulders. When he switched to do the left side, he burst out laughing. The idea of leaving for the military finally dawned on him. He held back his nervousness and continued shaving off the rest of his hair, inwardly cringing at how much hair was falling off. He didn't want to look, but he had to. In the end, he left half an inch of hair like Jaejoong had suggested. After checking for missed spots, he turned to Jaejoong,

"Is this good enough?"

Jaejoong ran his hand over the short spikes and smiled, "You never looked more handsome."
