A/N: Sorry that the conclusion ended up really short. And you might notice that the ending scenes have a different writing style to them, that may be because I wrote the ending before I wrote the first chapter. So that's why the word flow is off and I apologize for that.

For the past three months, they lived their lives with other inmates. They still saw each other when they were lead into the mess hall for their meals, but they could not be next to each other like they had envisioned. Staring at each other from across the room with security guards watching their every movement, they had to make do with whatever contact they could get.

"Changmin-ah, are they feeding you?"

Changmin played with the chains on his handcuffs. Yunho had visited him once a week since that day at the courtroom. It was heart-warming that his brother still cared for him, but also a little annoying. How could his brother let him go, if he continued to visit him like this?

"Hyung, think about it. I'm a murderer. Now, why would they treat us as anything but? Besides, have you forgotten that my death sentence is coming up in a few weeks? Who cares if they're feeding me? I'd rather they starve me than stuff me before slaughtering me."

"Changmin-ah . . ." Yunho frowned. He hated the way Changmin acted as if his own death was no big deal. Why couldn't he see that it would devastate those around him?

"Don't worry, I won't let your food go to waste," Changmin smiled, pushing the box off to the side and noticed a security guard coming in,

"Hyung, I have to go."

"Wait, Changmin-ah," Yunho stood up when Changmin moved to get out of his seat. Yunho pressed a hand against the glass,

"Changmin-ah. I love you."

Changmin quirked his lips in a small smile and chuckled,

"I know, hyung. I know."

Another week passed and then another until they were finally at their last week. Changmin sat at the mess hall with his plate of food in front of him. He would always wait until Jaejoong arrived before he began eating. But for some reason, today was a special day.

Jaejoong walked in with his meal and was smiling brightly at him. Changmin looked around in fear when he noticed that the other boy was coming over to sit with him.

"Don't sit with me! We're not allowed!"

Jaejoong, however, just placed his plate onto the table and sat across from him,

"I was surprised too, Minnie-ah. But, the security guard said that I could sit with you."

"What?" Changmin looked around and realized that the security guards situated in the mess hall, didn't even bother to pull them away from each other.

"Yeah, I think it's because our death sentence is next week. So, they're letting us spend time together until then. Isn't that nice of them?"

Changmin looked down at his lunch in thought. That might be the reason why they're lenient with them now.

"Don't think too much . . . This was your idea, wasn't it? To start over anew?" Jaejoong whispered with a small smile. Changmin nodded and reached over the table to grasp Jaejoong's hand,

"Yeah, a new beginning. I'd like that."

The next few days, they spent time whispering sweet nothings to each other as much as time would allow them before they were forced back into the cell and wasting the rest of their days in there.

When their execution date arrived, they were led out of their cells by a security guard. They both walked down the echoing corridor, dressed in orange prison wear and hands shackled together behind them. Jaejoong tried to get closer to Changmin, to have that one last intimate contact, but the guard that was holding his restraints, jerked him back. Changmin growled lowly at the rough action,

"Don't do that!"

"Shut up," the guard in charge of his shackles, slapped him harshly on the back of his head. They were both forced to stop when they each stood in front of two separate metal doors.

"Say your goodbyes here," one of the guards said. Jaejoong's eyes teared up. It was finally goodbye. Once they stepped through the doors, they would never return.

"Stop crying," Changmin whispered harshly. Jaejoong turned to look over at the taller boy and noticed tear-stained cheeks.

"Changmin," Jaejoong croaked, "I'm scared."

"There's nothing to be afraid of," Changmin said with his head down, "It'll be over before you know it."

Jaejoong let out a choked sob at the reality.

"I'll be waiting when you cross over. I promise," Changmin whispered and the doors opened. They both saw a chair sitting in the middle of the room with various wires laying on the floor. Jaejoong swallowed another sob and was pushed forward into the room.

"I love you, Changmin."

Jaejoong didn't get to hear Changmin's reply as the door closed behind him. He walked forward and sat in the chair, staring dimly straight ahead as the guard strapped him in and hooked up the wires onto his body. It was time to accept his fate.

Jaejoong closed his eyes and the only sound that filled his ears, were the loud crackles of electricity.

He was finally free. They both were.

It had been eight years since Yunho had last seen his baby brother and the guilt of that day never ceased one bit. It was like a film replaying in his mind over and over again every time he stepped upon the cemetary grounds. If only he had tried harder. If only he had known earlier, he could've found a way to set both his brother and Jaejoong free. He lived in regret, thinking about the 'what ifs' and wonder if this was how fate wanted their lives to end.

Yunho stared at the two headstones positioned side by side and frowned,

"Changmin-ah, I'm sorry. I'm sorry that your big brother couldn't do anything to save you. I couldn't protect you like I promised I would. Now, everyday seems quiet and empty in the house. It's been eight years, Changmin-ah . . . and the feeling of losing you doesn't seem to go away. Will it ever go away like how we coped when Mom and Dad passed away? Will the hurt finally leave?"

A drop of water landed on the back of his hand and Yunho instinctively reached up to his face, but there were no tear stains. Then a few more drops fell from the sky and he looked up to see gray clouds overhead. He closed his eyes and let the rain fall on his face, masking the tears that he could finally shed.

I'm sorry, Changmin-ah . . .
